All performance centers across Ducommun competed in the annual Excellence in Innovation competition. Each performance center submitted one project entry that focused on innovation for a new or existing program or process. We are happy to announce the following winners!
Top Honors for the Excellence in Innovation Award goes to the Carson, CA Performance Center for their innovative development of a Linear Variable Differential Transformer (LVDT) sensor. This team utilized their expertise of MCD products and overcame many challenges to create a custom design in response to customer needs.
Runner Up for the Structures Group was awarded to the Gardena, Orange and El Mirage, CA (GOREM) Performance Centers. The GOREM team implemented a SPC process to monitor production quality on aircraft skins and improve the utilization of CNC machining as well as significantly reducing inspection times.
Runner Up for the Electronics Group was awarded to the Huntsville, AR Performance Center. Huntsville developed a new test system to improve quality control for the Canister Electronic Module (CEM) product by collaborating with our customer, conducting extensive research and implementing RCCA methodologies.
