Our Response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic

The Coronavirus Pandemic is top-of-mind for all of us at Ducommun. In these truly unprecedented times, our key priorities remain focused on the health and safety of our valued employees, the integrity of our supply chain, business continuity for our customers, and our support of the local communities in which we live and work.

As an essential business provider of products for Critical Infrastructures Sectors including the Defense Industrial Base, Transportation Systems and Critical Manufacturing Systems, Ducommun is designated as an essential business and has continued to operate, produce and ship products to our valued customers. We adhere to strict Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines for safe businesses and workplace environments and have adopted and implemented a number of CDC and World Health Organization (WHO) best practices for workplace health and safety.

Due to the fluid and evolving nature of the Coronavirus Pandemic, we understand that clear and concise communication is essential. We invite you to check back regularly for updates.

Ensuring the Health & Safety of our Employees is Our Top Priority

We continue to prioritize employee safety and efficiency, drive operational excellence, and regularly communicate with team members and colleagues. We have implemented CDC guidelines and standards for workplace health and safety at each one of our performance centers. Each and every one of our valued employees has also stepped up to learn and master the new rules of social distancing, flex staffing, non-medical face coverings and frequent hand washing – among many others.

  • Onsite Visitors – To prevent the spread of COVID-19 and reduce the potential risk of exposure to our workforce, Ducommun is only permitting business-critical visitors with a confirmed appointment and a pre-approved Ducommun COVID-19 pre-screening questionnaire on file. Those who do not meet these requirements are not granted permission for entry into any of our Performance Centers or Corporate Headquarters.

  • Enhanced Sanitation Standards & Frequent Disinfecting – The latest CDC evidence suggests that the Coronavirus (COVID-19) may remain viable for hours to days on surfaces made from a variety of materials. We will continuously clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces to mitigate the spread.

  • Flex Staffing – We have made every effort to use flex staffing and/or telecommuting for our workforce to reduce potential exposure to Coronavirus.

  • Non-Medical Face Covering – We have provided every employee with two (2) non-medical cloth face coverings for nose and mouth to wear during work and to keep for use in personal time when they need to go out to perform other essential activities such as visiting the store, doctor, etc. We are also now mandating that all employees and visitors who enter and are present at our facilities wear a non-medical face covering whenever they are interacting with one or more person.

  • Frequent Hand Washing – Employees are required to regularly wash their hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Employees should also avoid touching their eyes, nose and mouth.

  • Mandatory Social Distancing – Social distancing helps limit contact with infected people and contaminated surfaces. According to the CDC, COVID-19 spreads mainly among people who are in close contact (within about 6 feet) for a prolonged period, so we have implemented the following protocols at all of our Performance Centers and Corporate Headquarters:
    • Maintain a minimum of six (6) feet of space between employees
    • Do not gather or work in small or large groups until we are granted permission to do so
    • Limit work-related gatherings such as staff meetings, celebratory group lunches and after-work functions
    • Replace in-person meetings with WebEx and/or Conference Calls
    • Stagger lunches and breaks to reduce the number of employees in our breakrooms at the same time
    • Cancellation of all non-essential work travel
    • Use telecommuting for our workforce where possible, while still supporting essential and continued operations
    • Cancellation in all work-related conferences and trade shows

Protecting Our Suppliers and Ensuring Business Continuity

As our country faces a truly unprecedented situation with the Coronavirus Pandemic, Ducommun remains focused on producing and providing essential products for our customers. Our supply chain is proactively working with all available sources, navigating the challenges to ensure material availability to support Ducommun operation requirements and customer service.

All Ducommun suppliers are essential to Ducommun products, customers and/or services provided to our customers. Ducommun maintains business continuity plans at multiple levels for all operations. Our plans support risk mitigation for operations, data disaster recovery and materials risk mitigation. Our Supply Chain Leadership is diligently focused on materials risk management and risk mitigation. We are contacting and evaluating our key suppliers. As we work to ensure our materials positions and supply continuity as expeditiously as possible, we continue our operations as previously communicated.

There has been no recorded or specific disruption of our upstream supply chain, and we are receiving a continuous flow of goods and products from suppliers. We are in regular communication with suppliers for inventory updates, and we are requesting alternative sources for products as needed.

We are preparing our own material management with the same measurement of inventory on hand, pulling in materials with open orders, and ordering alternative qualified sources as needed, specifically:

  • Reviewed next six (6) months demand at part number level, with Country of Origin associated
  • Analyzed components at different risk level
  • Reviewed components (high and medium risk) on hand inventory; took immediate actions for components not supporting next 6 months of operation requirements
  • Pulled in all open orders with vendors and placed additional orders to cover requirements to secure material availability
  • Identified and sourced alternative sources for gaps of requirements
