DUCOMMUN INCORPORATED ANNOUNCES LONG-TERM AGREEMENT FOR TITANIUM EROSION SHIELDS FOR THE BLACKHAWK HELICOPTER
LOS ANGELES, California (November 28, 2007) --
Ducommun Incorporated (NYSE: DCO) today announced that its Ducommun AeroStructures, Inc. (DAS) subsidiary has won a long-term agreement to
furnish titanium erosion shields, which provide leading edge protection for both new and aftermarket main rotor blades to support the
Sikorsky UH-60 BLACK HAWK Helicopter program. The contract is valued at approximately $60 million at anticipated build rates and will
carry on through 2012. The program was awarded to DAS by GKN Aerospace, which manufactures the sheath assembly for the blade in their
Tallassee, Alabama facility. Sikorsky Aircraft is a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. (NYSE:UTX).
Joseph C. Berenato, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Ducommun, stated, “We are pleased by the opportunity to support the
Sikorsky UH-60 BLACK HAWK program for the next five years. DAS has been producing the titanium erosion shields in our Gardena, California
facility since the inception of the BLACK HAWK program. We appreciate this vote of confidence from both Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation and
GKN Aerospace Alabama in awarding us this long-term agreement. Our work in air foils is a core competency of DAS and we will continue to seek
more such work. The new agreement takes effect January 1, 2008.”
Ducommun AeroStructures manufactures large, complex structural components and assemblies in aluminum, specialty alloys such as titanium,
metal bond and composites for a wide variety of military and commercial aerospace applications.
