Miltec Research and Technology is based in Oxford, Mississippi.
MRT provides high-technology system engineering and analysis expertise associated with university research,
development and testing efforts with a corporate focus on providing on-site collaboration and technology of successful research efforts into commercial development and manufacturing
for the marketplace. Our staff consists of electrical and mechanical engineers, physicists and computer scientists that work in functional areas of sensors; system simulation;
engineering and integration; field test and support; project coordination and management, and general engineering services and support.
Founded in 1997, MRT has the strategic vision of conducting acoustics research and development in coordination with local universities and colleges, the industry, and the Department
of Defense. These new technologies developed from this research will be incorporated in the industry. MRT also has the vision of keeping our state’s talented engineers within
Mississippi, by providing technical, higher-paying positions in their area of expertise.
MRT specializes in acoustic research and technologies for military applications. Currently, MRT is involved in the acquisition detection and tracking
of cruise missiles and cruise-like missiles as an adjunct behind the Forward Line of Troops sensor system.
MRT is also applying acoustic technology to elevated platforms, such as Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) to detect and track Transporter
Erector Launches (TELs) for forward fire support missions. MRT is also using our unique expertise to locate underground facilities with data fusion of
acoustic emission combined with other sensors. MRT is uniquely qualified in the area of acoustic technology to support the most demanding tasks in the areas
of noise control for enhanced sensor performance target identification.
The primary customer base of MRT is the University of Mississippi’s National Center for Physical Acoustics (NCPA), supporting efforts from the US Army Space and Missile Defense Command
(SMDC). Other major customers include Mississippi State University, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio.
The majority of the engineering staff is mid-level, with over three fourths having 5 years experience or pursuing a graduate degree. About 1/4 of the staff are graduates at the Doctoral
level.
With an ever-growing list of projects and staff, MRT is sure to continue to bring technology-related jobs, products and new manufacturing opportunities to the northern Mississippi area.
