Ultrasonic range finders measure height above ground
Here, sensors are calibrated for heights < 30 ft but
can be calibrated for heights up to 40 ft, possibly to 60 ft
Return signal is very reliable
Derivative of height with respect to time provides Descent
Rate
Height above ground and Descent Rate would be useful information
for pilots trying to land in brownout conditions
