Missile Engagement and General Analysis SIMulation (MEGASIM) is a FORTRAN based
Six Degree-of-Freedom(6-DOF) simulation framework for performing a variety of analysis
including first order 3-DOF analysis, trajectory and flyout fan generation, requirements
development and assessment, performance evaluation and detailed 6-DOF simulation and
modeling for pre-flight predictions and post-flight analysis. The simulation is
an event-based simulation that easily accommodates modeling of time delays between
module executions as well as modules that run at different frequencies or asynchronously.
MEGASIM has an associated set of tools that allow rapid insertion of new variables
and/or new modules. MEGASIM also includes an input interpreter that allows extremely
flexible methods of organizing the input data, controlling execution and selecting
outputs. The simulation event control is accomplished through a user-friendly set
of commands that allow the user to control all simulation sequencing and stop conditions
with user inputs if desired.
The framework provides a core set of modules for the typical missile functions with
several levels of fidelity options built-in. The individual models contain comprehensive
error sources and a modular structure for easy understanding and modification. The
framework also has a built-in Monte Carlo and sensitivity analyses capability as
well as automatic generation of statistical data for any desired parameters within
the simulation. A detailed set on online (HTML based) documentation has been
developed with MEGASIM. This documentation provides an overview of the simulation,
describes the models, how to run the simulation and how to modify or add to the
simulation.
