outside sources through strategic commodity management, negotiations, contracting,
order administration, quality assurance and transportation.

Ducommun supply chain management locates professionals at sites across the business
globally to assure regional and operational focus while also maintaining centralized
leadership to maximize the benefits of one Ducommun.
Local Impact
Personnel located at business sites assure the needs of our customers, as reflected
in operational requirements, are front and center in the day to day goals of the
supply chain management team. They also provide for the development and management
of close supplier relationships in strategic geographical locations.
One Ducommun
Operating as a single entity with a significant level of annual purchases increases
our ability to improve buying power and supply chain processes through the creation
of mutually beneficial business relationships with our suppliers and within our
businesses. The impact stretches from traditional cost savings initiatives to more
advanced strategies such as supplier development and certification, supplier scorecards,
integrated cost reduction, cross functional commodity teams and on-line supplier
relationship management.
The utilization of strategic sourcing across our business resulting in long term
agreements and business alliances assures we will proactively support the growth
and globalization of Ducommun. One Ducommun also provides the ability to offer new
development opportunities for supply chain management personnel through training,
expertise sharing and job growth.
Goals
Ducommun Supply Chain management will continually identify and act on new opportunities
presented as one Ducommun while maintaining and building on the success of site
specific initiatives. Goals include:
The continued reduction of total cost for direct and indirect materials,
assurance of effective supplier quality performance, asset management through reduced
inventories, supply chain management personnel growth and development and use of
continuous improvement tools to improve efficiency within our sites and supplier
relationships.
Cost reductions will be accomplished through commodity management and the
purchasing power of one Ducommun resulting in an increase of long term agreements
and supplier alliances.
The number of certified suppliers will increase as we continue to utilize and develop
supplier quality management processes leading our supply base to six sigma levels
of performance.
Purchased asset management supporting improved inventory turns will be effected
through implementation of supplier managed inventory programs and targets
for raw materials, work in process and finished goods with specific measureable
actions at all businesses.
Increased exposure of supply chain management personnel to training and development
through Ducommun wide initiatives and involvement in continuous improvement events
will assure we continue to grow our people.
