Commodity Manager
Summary
The Ducommun Commodity Manager is a member of the Ducommun AeroStructures and Technologies Supply Chain Management organization reporting to the Director of Supply Chain Management representing supply
chain initiatives across all of Ducommun Inc.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates internal buying patterns and needs of internal customers in the aggregate for a specific purchased commodity(s)
- Proactively understands the market forces in assigned commodity(s) and drives for lowest total cost including improved quality, cycle time, commonality, design, availability, inventory and price
- Creates and manages Long Term Agreements using LTA gate process and approvals
- Leads cross functional teams in implementation of agreements including rationalization of the supply base and establishment of goals for cost, quality, delivery and inventory
- Interacts with LTA suppliers to solve chronic performance problems in quality, cost and delivery
- Organizes and leads quarterly supplier reviews
- Facilitates Integrated Cost Reduction plans with suppliers
- Responsible for cost savings generated by LTA process
- Supports Bid and Proposal process and participates on make or buy teams including product transition as necessary
- Leads Program specific supply chain initiatives as necessary
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Mgmt., Business or related area or equivalent experience
- Five years direct procurement experience, commodity management preferred
- Computer Skills, Microsoft Office
- ERP system experience
- Communication skills, both written and verbal
- Negotiation skills
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints or mechanical drawings
- Understands and has ability to apply lean manufacturing and supply chain concepts
- Strong analytical, communication, interpersonal, written and verbal skills
- ISM or APICS certification desirable
